Bill Hoffmann's 90th The Concert Band competed in Canberra's own Eisteddfod and took out first place in the Open Bands (Grade A) section. The chosen piece was James Barnes' Fantasy Variations on a Theme by Paganinni. Congratulations to Geoff for taking the band so far in such a short time! |

ANZAC Day March The Concert Band continued its longstanding tradition of performing in the ANZAC Day March, having performed at the very first ANZAC Day Service and at every ANZAC Day Service since 1948. The Concert Band was ably led by Karina Scott whilst regular Music Director Maj Geoff Grey CSM was otherwise engaged leading the Band of the Royal Military College. |

Beijing Olympics Torch Relay Launching Ceremony (Spectrum Big Band) Spectrum Big Band was broadcast across Reconcilation Place as part of the early morning Beijing Olympics Torch Relay Launching Ceremony. The audio was noticed as the background to the TV breakfast program onsite interviews as well as a Foreign Correspondent documentary Foul Play broadcast on 29th July 2008 that featured ugly scenese of protestor clashes at Reconciliation Place to the tune of Benny Goodman's Sing Sing Sing (click here to watch the documentary). |
